College MarchIn December, all WHEELS high school seniors march to the local post office to mail the final pieces of their college applications, cheered on by teachers, friends, family and supporters. For the past five years, the College March has been not only a great moment of celebration, but also an opportunity to show our students how proud we are, and how much we value their education.
The College March is a tradition started at WHEELS and has spread to 21 schools across 11 cities nationwide through the NYC Outward Bound Network. In addition to being a rite of passage and celebration for our seniors, the event inspires our younger students to see college in their future too. The College March has even drawn the attention of both the Mayor and the White House - President Obama highlighted WHEELS and one of our seniors the 2014 State of the Union. |
WHEELS UpEvery spring, we host a benefit to support and celebrate our amazing students, counselors and volunteers. This event is a great opportunity to learn more about our student and alumni stories and find out how you can get more involved with Friends of WHEELS throughout the year!

Passage PresentationsAs part of the Expeditionary Learning model, all 8th and 12th grade students at WHEELS present a portfolio of academic and personal growth to a panel of teachers, family and community members. This provides students with an opportunity to reflect on their learning and their readiness to move on to the next phase of their education. As panelists, you will have a chance to view student portfolios, listen to their presentations, ask questions, and provide constructive feedback. Passage Presentations are required for passage from middle school to high school and for high school graduation. They take place in June.
